Sutter Health Awards 200 Scholarships to Students Pursuing Higher Education
Proudly supporting the continuing education of Northern California students, Sutter Health awarded 200 student scholarships this month as part of the Van R. Johnson Sutter Scholars program.
Named in honor of former longtime Sutter Health CEO Van Johnson, the program awards scholarships to college-age children and grandchildren of employees within the Sutter Health network. The scholarships apply to the 2015-2016 academic year.
Since 2002, more than 4,000 scholarships—totaling $7.1 million—have been awarded to students pursuing higher education. This includes accredited four-year programs, two-year programs, vocational school and graduate school.
The Sacramento Region Community Foundation administers this program on behalf of Sutter Health and awards scholarships after a competitive review process. The group considers multiple factors, including academic achievement, school and community involvement, work experience, educational and career goals, and special circumstances.
