Sutter Health Organizations Earn Survey’s Highest Honor
For the fifth year, six Sutter-affiliated physician groups rated among the nation’s best
SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Six Sutter Health-affiliated physician organizations throughout Northern California have earned top honors for the fifth consecutive year in the annual America’s Physician Groups Standards of Excellence member survey.
America’s Physician Groups, a national trade association for physician organizations, awarded five stars—its prestigious Elite rating—in its 2018 survey to:
- Brown & Toland Physicians, a Sutter-affiliated independent practice association
- Palo Alto Medical Foundation
- Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation
- Sutter Gould Medical Foundation
- Sutter Medical Foundation
- Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation
The six organizations have earned the survey’s Elite rating every year since 2014.
“We could not be prouder of the commitment of these Sutter-affiliated physicians and care teams to continually improve the quality, safety, efficiency and accessibility of patient care,” said Don Wreden, M.D., senior vice president, Patient Experience, for Sutter Health. “This important honor from a respected industry group reflects their innovative work to provide comprehensive, coordinated care to patients across our healthcare network. The fact that these organizations have earned the Elite designation for five years shows how exceptional they are.”
The survey, now in its 12th year, uses rigorous performance measures to evaluate medical groups, health systems and independent practice associations that are members of the trade association and participate in the survey voluntarily. The 2018 survey rated participants in care management practices, information technology, accountability and transparency, patient-centered care and group support of advanced primary care.
This year 122 association members nationwide took part in the survey. The association posts member ratings publicly to help consumers evaluate physician organizations’ technical quality, patient experience and affordability.
America’s Physician Groups began as the Physician Groups Council in 1995 and later was renamed the California Association of Physician Groups, or CAPG. To reflect the growth of its national membership, the association was renamed America’s Physician Groups, or APG, in January.
Each Elite honoree in the 2018 Standards of Excellence member survey will receive a plaque at the APG Colloquium 2018 in Washington, D.C., in October.
