Sutter Health Physician Leader Appointed to National Committee
Steven Lane, M.D., Sutter Health’s clinical informatics director of Privacy, Information Security and Interoperability, was recently appointed to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (ONC). ONC is the principal federal agency that coordinates nationwide efforts to use the most advanced health information technology and electronic exchange of health information.
“This appointment is a clear recognition of Dr. Lane’s personal and passionate commitment to health technology, health data exchange, systems interoperability and information security—all in the interest of providing the highest possible quality patient care,” said Sutter Health Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Jon Manis.
Dr. Lane, a physician at Sutter Health’s Palo Alto Medical Foundation, is recognized nationally for his work in interoperability and health information exchange. He recently hosted the California Health Information Exchange Regional User Group meeting with representatives from more than 15 medical centers and physician groups from four western states. His work with the ONC will support the adoption of health information technology and the promotion of nationwide health information exchange to improve health care.
