Sutter Health Scholarship Program Helps 228 Students Pursue College Dreams
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sutter Health today announced it awarded college scholarships to 228 students for the 2018-2019 school year through its Van R. Johnson Sutter Scholars program.
Scholarship recipients attend a community college, four-year university or graduate program and received awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. Administered by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, the program’s competitive review process considers multiple factors, including academic achievement, school and community involvement, work experience, educational and career goals and special circumstances.
For 16 years, Sutter Health has proudly supported the continuing education of tomorrow’s leaders by offering these scholarships, named in honor of former longtime Sutter Health CEO Van R. Johnson. The scholarships are available exclusively to college-age children and grandchildren of employees within the Sutter Health network. Since 2002, Sutter has awarded 5,118 scholarships, totaling almost $8.6 million.
