Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital Earns Top Hospital Award
Only Hospital North of the Golden Gate to Receive this Distinction
Santa Rosa, CA, December 7, 2017 – Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital was named a Top Teaching Hospital by The Leapfrog Group for the first time. Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization.
“Providing the safest, highest quality patient care is the central focus of what we do every day at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital”, remarks SSRRH Chief Medical Executive William Carroll, MD. “Our staff, nurses, and physicians take great pride in bringing a patient first approach to quality and safety. We are honored to be recognized for this prestigious award.”
Among thousands of hospitals in the country, Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital, received a Top Teaching Hospital distinction, recognized nationally alongside 10 Top Children’s Hospitals, 45 Top General Hospitals, 18 Top Rural Hospitals and 36 Top Teaching Hospitals.
Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“We are proud to recognize Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital as a 2017 Leapfrog Top Hospital. This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and the local community. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog.
“Across our network our doctors and Hospital teams partner together each day to give patients exceptional, high-quality care in a safe environment, “ said Stephen Lockhart, M.D., Ph.D. chief medical officer for Sutter Health. “By working as an integrated system, we share knowledge and best practices. This teamwork helps positively impact other aspects of care beyond quality and safety, including improving the patient experience and lowering costs.”
To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To see the full list of institutions honored as 2017 Top Hospitals, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
