Sutter Health Welcomes First Babies of the Year
SACRAMENTO, Calif.—What better symbol for new beginnings in the new year than new life? Teams from across Sutter Health’s not-for-profit network helped deliver babies throughout Northern California within the first few hours of 2018. Here are a few who made their New Year’s Day debut!
The Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento Labor and Delivery team welcomed the first baby of 2018 in Sacramento. Baby Ignacio, weighing 8 lbs., 7 oz. and measuring 21 inches long, joined the Pulgar family on Jan. 1 at 12:15 a.m.
Mother Xin Liu and father Gaojian Wang are the proud parents of their new baby, Joe, who came into the world at Sutter Health’s California Pacific Medical Center at 1:11 a.m.
Prince Abraham McElligott was the first baby born in Castro Valley this year. Born at 2:11 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Prince, who weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. and measured 19.5 inches, was delivered at Sutter Health’s Eden Medical Center by Sonia Badheka, D.O., FACOG – an OB-GYN doctor with Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation.
At 2:57 a.m., the Labor and Delivery team at Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center of Santa Cruz helped Anissa Samudio give birth to a 5-pound, 3-ounce boy named Elijah. And at 3:20 a.m., a baby girl was the first born at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital.
