U.S. News & World Report Names Sutter Health Hospitals Among Best in California
Four hospitals within Sutter Health’s not-for-profit network achieved recognition today as among the best hospitals in California for 2015-16 by U.S. News & World Report. The annual rankings rate top hospitals in the state and in major metropolitan regions, as well as top hospitals according to their performance in 16 adult specialties.
Sutter Health hospitals recognized among the top 50 in the state and top 10 in their metro area include:
San Francisco metro area
Sacramento metro area
In addition, California Pacific Medical Center received “high performer” recognitions in three specialties and a top 50 hospital in the nation achievement for gynecology. Only 137 of the nearly 5,000 U.S. hospitals evaluated received a national ranking in at least one specialty. Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, received “high performer” recognitions in four adult specialties.

The U.S. News & World Report survey ranked hospitals according to reputation, mortality, patient safety and other areas, including nurse staffing and technology.
“A Best Hospital has demonstrated expertise in treating the most challenging patients,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis at U.S. News. “A hospital that emerged from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of.”
