Dr. Woods is Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Sutter Health’s Mills-Peninsula Medical Center, and Physician Lead for the Sutter Health Cardiovascular Bay Area Electrophysiology. He practices as part of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
As part of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Cardiac Electrophysiology Service, Dr. Woods provides procedural and medical therapy for arrhythmia conditions including ablation and device implantation. He directs electrophysiology programmatic development for Sutter Health (Bay Area). He has a particular focus on complex ablation including atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia.
Dr. Woods’ research focuses on translational cardiovascular diseases. He investigates novel therapies for supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, and ventricular tachycardia, as well as stroke prevention. These include investigator-initiated and industry-supported clinical trials in the focus areas described above.
Dr. Woods received an MD and PhD from the University of California at Los Angeles through the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program. He completed residency training in internal medicine at Stanford University as part of the clinical investigator pathway, fellowship and chief fellowship in cardiology also at Stanford, and clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of California at San Francisco.
