Every year 900 patients are diagnosed with cancer at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Santa Cruz. So, it was important for the care team there to look at the entire cancer experience and see how they could make it better.
When Eunice was first diagnosed with thyroid cancer, she felt like she didn't get the level of care she needed. When her cancer returned 22 years later, her experience at PAMF was the complete opposite. With her team's support, she felt much more able to fight the illness.
Similarly, Amy experience at PAMF helped give her the strength to battle breast cancer. She says she doesn't feel like a patient when she goes to PAMF, she feels more like a friend.
