Description
Interstitial lung diseases (IDLs) are a diverse group of pulmonary disorders characterized
by disruption of the lung tissue resulting in pulmonary fibrosis and progressive difficulty
breathing. The diagnosis of specific IDLs is not straightforward. There
is often doubt over the diagnosis such that recommendations have been made to utilize
multidisciplinary discussions between specialists who are experienced in the diagnosis
of ILD.
The purpose of this study is to provide lung tissue samples
for the optimization of a genomic test that will provide a range of diagnostic
and prognostic information about IDLs.
