In the study, an extra blood sample is taken during regular blood tests when a pregnant woman is admitted to a Sutter Health hospital to give birth. These samples are stored in the Sutter Health biobank, and will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.
The goal is to study the spread of COVID-19 in pregnancy and determine if infection rates differ by race, ethnicity, and other factors.
In addition to Alice Pressman, Ph.D., M.S, and Gregory Tranah, Ph.D., Stephen Lockhart, M.D., Ph.D., is also a principal investigator.
