Features of the Kanbar Center
The Kanbar Cardiac Center features two cardiac catheterization laboratories, used to treat patients with blocked vessels or arteries and to help diagnose the causes of heart failure. The electrophysiology laboratory is used for treating patients with irregular heartbeats through cardiac resynchronization therapy and implantable cardiac defibrillators.
About the Kanbar Center
Over the years, Maurice Kanbar has pledged more than $10 million to the Kanbar Cardiac Center. Kanbar very personal reason for giving so generously.
Kanbar is known for his philanthropic investments in the arts, education and healthcare, but in this case he has a more personal reason.
“Both my parents died of heart failure,” Kanbar says. “So to me, if we can make some progress in solving the problem of heart failure, or if we can find ways of reducing the chances of it, I’d be very happy.”
One specific example of where great progress is being made is electrophysiology. Led by the internationally renowned Andrea Natale, M.D., CPMC’s electrophysiology team performs more than 700 complex ablations each year.
