Specialty programs

**Brain Health Centers**

The Ray Dolby Brain Health Center at CPMC in San Francisco and the Sutter Neuroscience Institute Memory Clinic in Sacramento have integrated, multidisciplinary teams that includes physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, neuropsychologists, medical assistants and administrators. Each team member contributes to the care of every patient and family who is treated for cognitive impairment or dementia at our centers. The Ray Dolby Brain Health Center also collaborates with the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California to provide additional care and resources to our patients and their families.

Patients benefit from advanced diagnostics, rehabilitation, research and clinical trials, psychological and social support, and community resources. Excellent care doesn’t just mean access to top specialists. The compassionate relationship our patients and families have with their providers is vital to complete care.

**Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research and Treatment Center**

The Forbes Norris MDA/ALS Research and Treatment Center in San Francisco provides comprehensive muscular dystrophy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnostic and treatment services. Our multidisciplinary team provides the care necessary to allow you to live your life with dignity and supports you and your family throughout your illness. Our experienced, knowledgeable staff is committed to providing outstanding care to effectively manage all aspects of your condition.

We’re one of the largest ALS clinical research centers in the United States, an ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence, and one of six national Muscular Dystrophy Association ALS Centers dedicated to ALS and muscular dystrophy treatment.

Our patients participate in cutting-edge clinical trials seeking new ways to slow the progression of neuromuscular disease. Additionally, we’re working on bringing the latest molecular biological findings about motor nerve cells directly from the laboratory bench to the bedside. The courage and dignity of our ALS families inspires us to work even harder to keep hope alive.

**Level 4 Epilepsy Centers**

Our comprehensive epilepsy program has received prestigious recognition for providing high-quality, advanced epilepsy care.

CPMC and Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento are designated as Level 4 Centers by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers — the highest level a center can receive in the treatment of patients with complex epilepsy.

Our neurodiagnostic laboratory received a five-year accreditation by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists.

**Multiple Sclerosis Clinics** 

If you've been diagnosed with MS or think you might have it, our neurologists in Sacramento and the Bay Area can help. Our multiple sclerosis clinics are recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for providing exceptional care.

There’s no specific test for MS, so getting a diagnosis is a process of eliminating all other possibilities. It’s important that you find a neurologist who has the expertise to make an accurate clinical diagnosis. Because we treat 1,000 people with MS a year, our specialists have the experience to accurately determine your condition. We’ll use your symptom history, neurological exam, and lab and imaging tests to make a diagnosis. We may also perform other specialized tests, such as a spinal tap, evoked potential tests or ocular coherence tomography.

Our teams of specialists work together to provide comprehensive care tailored to your needs. We offer:
