Our grief specialists — including pastoral team members, social workers and child life specialists — provide empathetic, personalized support tailored to the age of each child. Younger children often find comfort through play and art therapy, while older siblings and parents may benefit from speaking with someone outside the family. [Request a referral](https://www.sutterhealth.org/referrals) ## Treatments - Art therapy ## Special programs **Children's Art Therapy Support Group** The Children's Art Therapy Support Group (CATS) in Sacramento helps children learn to cope with and accept their cancer diagnosis or that of a loved one through education, peer support and creative art expression. The group sessions aim to create a safe space for children to express feelings, help them cope with illness-related emotions through art and reduce behavioral issues like sleep problems, trouble focusing and changes in school performance. This program is provided free of charge. To register or for more information, please call [916-547-9485](tel:+9165479485). **Children's Bereavement Art Group** Trained art therapists and volunteers lead the Children's Bereavement Art Group in Sacramento and Roseville. We offer a comforting space for children ages 4–17 to express their emotions through art after losing a loved one. Our group helps children and teens feel understood by their peers, provides art materials for healthy grief expression and supports the entire family with guidance and education throughout the grief process.
