At CPMC, hospitalists work in partnership with referring pediatricians during a child's hospitalization. These doctors are board-certified pediatricians expert in caring for infants, children and adolescents while they are in the hospital. They are available 24 hours a day, and are an important resource for your child’s health.
- Hospitalists care for your child around-the-clock throughout his or her hospitalization.
- The hospitalist coordinates and oversees all inpatient care including subspecialty appointments, procedures, tests, and transport.
- All communication is provided to primary care and referring doctors and specialists by a practitioner with in-depth knowledge of your child’s condition.A smooth transition from inpatient to outpatient care is implemented in collaboration with your child’s local pediatrician, including at the time of discharge, instructions for your child’s at-home care and follow up.
