Hepatitis A and B Vaccines at Sutter Walk-In Care

Your liver is one of the hardest working organs in your body. To help keep it healthy throughout your life, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccinations are strongly recommended.

Sutter Walk-In Care offers Hepatitis A and B vaccinations for those 18 years and older. No appointment necessary. Our care team is ready to answer any questions you may have.

About Hepatitis A

  • Hepatitis A is a liver infection caused by a virus that is highly contagious and transmitted when a person eats or drinks fecal matter, usually through contaminated food or water.
  • It does not cause chronic infection. Once your body produces antibodies for it, they last for the rest of your life and protect you from re-infection.
  • Adults typically show symptoms of Hepatitis A, but children usually do not. Symptoms include:
    • Fever
    • Fatigue
    • Loss of appetite
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Abdominal pain
    • Dark urine
    • Clay-colored bowel movements
    • Joint pain
    • Jaundice

The best way to protect yourself from the Hepatitis A virus is by getting the Hepatitis A vaccine series. The Hepatitis A vaccine series is provided in two doses, given at least six months apart.

About Hepatitis B

  • Hepatitis B is also caused by a virus and transmitted when an infected person’s bodily fluids enter a non-infected person’s body. This typically happens from sexual contact, sharing needles or syringes, or from mother to baby.
  • Symptoms include:
    • Fever
    • Fatigue
    • Loss of appetite
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Abdominal pain
    • Dark urine
    • Clay-colored bowel movements
    • Joint pain
    • Jaundice
  • Chronic Hepatitis B can lead to liver cancer or cirrhosis.
  • Depending on the age of the person, this liver infection may be short-term or may become a chronic illness. The younger you are when you get Hepatitis B, the more likely you will have the infection long-term.

The best way to protect yourself from the Hepatitis B virus is by getting the Hepatitis B vaccine series.

Be proactive and protect yourself by visiting Sutter Walk-In Care to get caught up on your vaccinations. We can help you improve your health and prevent complications and chronic conditions before they happen.
