Your eyesight is incredibly important to your quality of life, so when health, age or trauma affects it, our eye care specialists are ready to step in and help. Our teams include optometrists as well as board-certified ophthalmalogists and cornea specialists who see both adults and children. 

We follow the American Academy of Ophthamology’s [guidelines for pediatric vision screening](https://www.aao.org/eye-health/tips-prevention/children-eye-screening#:~:text=An%20ophthalmologist%20should%20do%20a,glasses%20or%20other%20vision%20correction. "guidelines for pediatric vision screening") and recommend adults get a [routine screening](https://www.sutterhealth.org/health/preventive-care-guidelines) at age 40 to detect any potential vision issues early on. **Frank Stein and Paul S. May Center for Low Vision Rehabilitation**

The specialists at the Frank Stein and Paul S. May Center for Low Vision Rehabilitation in San Francisco assist people with low vision or partial vision loss. If you have trouble performing daily tasks like reading, shopping and preparing meals, our doctors and therapists can help you live more independently. We provide rehabilitation, training and devices to maximize your vision.

**Lions Eye Foundation partnership**

This not-for-profit organization is dedicated to preserving vision and preventing blindness. The foundation’s headquarters are located within our ophthalmology department at CPMC in San Francisco. Our doctors volunteer their time and skills to provide eye care to Lions Eye patients who could not afford treatment otherwise. These eye specialists treat more than 1,000 patients annually through the foundation.

**Munnerlyn Eye Institute**

The eye care specialists at the Munnerlyn Eye Institute in the Bay Area provide comprehensive eye care for you and your family. This location offers two medical specialties: optometry and ophthalmology. Optometry services include vision testing, corrective lens prescriptions and screening tests for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, hypertensive retinopathy and diabetic retinopathy. Other services offered at the Munnerlyn Eye Institute include general ophthalmology, cataract surgery, pediatric ophthalmology and LASIK vision correction surgery.
