High school student volunteers provide a wonderful service to CPMC patients and staff. We are grateful to each of you for your generosity and desire to help. Please note that attendance at the orientation does not guarantee volunteer placement.
Priority is given to students meeting the following criteria:
- Returning CPMC volunteers.
- Ability to commit and fulfill a minimum of 100 hours of service, usually two to three hours a week. The 100 hours does not include the orientation and transport training.
- Willingness to volunteer at any campus location where there is a need.
- Have completed their health screening through their own physicians or school clinics, or have immunizations records that are up to date (see below).
Student volunteer requirements:
- Ages 16 and over. You must have parental consent if you are under age 18.
- Complete and pass a health screening that consists of:
- A negative tuberculosis test called a PPD. We require two TB tests administered within the last year, the most recent test taken within three months of starting. If you test positive for TB, the results of a negative chest X-ray taken within the last three months is needed.
- Immunity to measles, mumps, rubella (German measles), called an MMR.
- Immunity to chicken pox
- If working in a patient care area, you must have an annual flu vaccine between October and March, or wear a mask.
- A Pertussis vaccine (whooping cough).
