A bold idea that’s changing how cancer care is delivered.
“We’re only one of a handful of community medical centers worldwide developing mouse avatars for research to fully personalize cancer treatment. This is a bold idea that’s changing how cancer care is delivered,” says Michael Rowbotham, M.D., Scientific Director at CPMC Research Institute and Cancer Avatar Project Lead.
“There’s no fear about doing new things here,” says senior scientist Greg Tranah, Ph.D. “The mice avatars allow us to test up to hundreds of different cancer drug combinations at a time. Then, working together with clinicians, we can more quickly determine which treatment is most likely to work for a particular patient.”
