Collaborating at PAMFRI

In 2013, PAMFRI reorganized to break out of traditional research department silos to facilitate more collaboration among its investigators. The reorganization began with the initial concept of clusters - loose affiliations of researchers who share certain methodological approaches, interests, or study the same patient populations. PAMFRI's framework for collaborating has evolved and is now known as brainstorm meetings that investigators convene among themselves to obtain early and ongoing feedback on research ideas or proposals.

These meetings are designed to reduce duplicate effort, foster cooperation, and where appropriate, begin collaborations. They provide structured opportunities for investigators to "float" new ideas, seek advice and/or potential partners, or offer suggestions. Funding allocations for formal proposal-writing begins with a presentation by an investigator in a brainstorm meeting. These meetings are used for a wide variety of other purposes as well.
