If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately to be transported to the nearest emergency room. If you are not experiencing a life-threatening emergency, but need immediate and urgent medical attention, visit Sutter Amador Hospital’s emergency room. Our team of emergency medicine specialists provides life-saving care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Sutter Amador Hospital recently expanded to ensure our community has access to convenient emergency services. The department has 14 private treatment rooms, all equipped with the latest computer-based monitoring systems. A 6-bed critical care unit provides onsite, around-the-clock care for critically injured and ill patients. Our new covered entrance and expanded lobby helps patients and their families feel more comfortable during their visit.
In addition, we’re designated as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. This is the first advanced-level certification program designed to recognize primary stroke centers that make exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke patients.
Emergency room visits should be reserved for true emergencies, such as life-threatening accidents or chest pain. Patients with less serious conditions, but still requiring immediate attention can choose the Fast Track program. The program is designed to provide quick, convenient and quality treatment during peak hours to non-emergency patients.
Some of the common conditions treated in an emergency room include:
- Difficulty breathing
- Unconsciousness
- Severe bleeding
- Poisoning
- Chest pain or pressure
- Severe allergic reactions
- Convulsions or seizures
- Sudden inability to speak, see, walk or move
Sutter Health affiliates have received medical excellence awards from Healthgrades and the Studer Group for supreme emergency care services.
