If you have a child or loved one with autism, you may wonder what resources are available to support them when they’re adults. As children and teens with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders become young adults, many require comprehensive services and supervision.
The Sutter Transition for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (STAND) Clinic is a unique resource dedicated to patients ages 18 and older with autism and neurodevelopmental disorders. At the STAND Clinic, our unique approach provides lifelong care, managing not only the early diagnosis, but also ongoing medical and psychological conditions. Our team includes pediatric and adult neurologists, neuropsychologists, pediatric and adult rehabilitation specialists, and social workers.
At the STAND Clinic, we focus on clinical treatment, as well as the emotional and psychological issues of our patients and their families. Our neuroscience specialists provide expert consultation for medical care and assist caregivers in maximizing each patient’s quality of life. Active in research, our team is continually striving to learn more about developmental disorders and find new ways to diagnose and treat them.
The clinic sees patients with conditions that include:
- Autism
- Epilepsy
- Movement disorders of muscle tone, gait, parkinsonian type issues, tremors and catatonia
- Sleep disorders
- Headaches
- Other neurological issues
The STAND Clinic supports those with neurological care or behavioral issues related to their disability. The clinic also helps patients with medication-related issues that include:
- Neurotropic medications for behavior, anxiety, aggression, sleep
- Side effects of being on medication for their condition
During the clinic, a patients meet with members of team, including neurologists, neuropsychologists and social workers.
