Urgent Care for Common Illnesses

What types of illness are treated at urgent care centers?

Urgent care doctors in the Sutter Health network treat many common illnesses and ailments such as:

  • Back problems
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Bronchitis
  • Colds
  • Flu
  • Ear infection
  • High fever
  • Mild to moderate asthma
  • Pink eye
  • Rashes
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Mild abdominal pain
  • Severe sore throat or cough
  • Strep throat
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Vomiting diarrhea or dehydration
  • Yeast infection

The doctors in the Sutter Health network Urgent Care centers are board-certified family medicine doctors, emergency room doctors or pediatricians. These doctors work closely with physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other urgent care staff members to treat people of all ages. Our urgent care teams have broad, comprehensive medical knowledge. Their goal is to provide convenient, quality care to help patients feel better quickly.

After an urgent care visit, our team will provide a treatment report to a primary care doctor or appropriate specialist. This collaboration helps keep that doctor informed of the treatment received.

Urgent care centers are more convenient, less expensive and frequently less crowded than hospital emergency rooms. They are open evenings, weekends and holidays, when many doctors’ offices are closed. Visit an urgent care center if you think you or your child needs to see a doctor within 24 hours.
