Program Curriculum
Internal Medicine residents will rotate through a wide range of general and subspecialty-based experiences, primarily based at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. Residents receive clinical training through bedside teaching, small group discussions and daily conferences.
Electives Offered: Cardiology, Nephrology, GI, Hemonc, Pulmonary, Integrative Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Research, Emergency Medicine, Palliative Care
Residents receive 4 weeks of vacation which is scheduled during elective weeks.

PGY1
- Inpatient: 20 weeks
- Continuity Clinic: 10 weeks
- Night Float: 4 weeks
- Infectious Disease: 4 weeks
- Cardiology or GI: 4 weeks
- Nephrology: 4 weeks
- Medical ICU: 8 weeks
- Elective: 2 weeks
PGY2
- Inpatient: 16 weeks
- Continuity Clinic: 10 weeks
- Neurology: 4 weeks
- Night Float: 4 weeks
- Medical ICU: 8 weeks
- Cardiology or GI: 4 weeks
- Elective: 6 weeks
PGY3
- Inpatient: 12 weeks
- Continuity Clinic: 10 weeks
- Endocrinology: 4 weeks
- Hematology/Oncology: 4 weeks
- Rheumatology: 4 weeks
- Night Float: 4 weeks
- Emergency Medicine: 4 weeks
- Medical ICU: 4 weeks
