About Me

Philosophy of Care

My choice to become a physician was rooted in watching my parents, as missionaries, dedicate their lives to helping the less fortunate. I have been blessed to have the privilege of applying those values to my work as a surgeon.

After completing my orthopedic residency at UCSF, I pursued specialized fellowship training in orthopedic trauma at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. I had the privilege of working with Donald Wiss, M.D., considered by many to be the premier authority on orthopedic fracture care. My focus was on the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of complex fractures and post-traumatic reconstruction, including malunions and nonunions. My fellowship training also provided me with a unique perspective in joint replacement surgery. I learned how to apply a variety of different surgical approaches to complicated joint replacement surgeries. As a result, I also specialize in treating fractures that occur around joint replacements.

My training and experience in both trauma and joint replacement surgeries also have provided me with special expertise in treating fractures in elderly people. This customized treatment approach takes into account weakened bone quality and each patient's unique expectations for functional recovery.

The ability to quickly establish trust with a patient is especially important to me. Patients who suffer trauma are in an emergent or urgent situation, requiring expeditious treatment. I strive to explain the nature of the injuries and treatments in plain language that my patients can easily understand. I encourage my patients to ask questions and actively participate in the decision-making process. I do my utmost to convey respect and maintain my patients' dignity. I do not hesitate to consult with other surgeons or research literature on a difficult case, so I can ensure the best possible results for my patients.

Another one of my core values is that I strive for perfection in and out of the operating room. I derive great joy from my dedication and hard work as an orthopedic surgeon. The smiles on my patients' faces are the ultimate reward for helping restore their function to the maximum potential. It is gratifying to see my patients resume work and recreational activities that were initially lost due to injury.

As an orthopedic surgeon at PAMF, I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with other physicians and ancillary staff who are all focused on the mutual goal of providing the highest quality care possible for our patients.
