Congratulations! Finding out you're pregnant is a joyful and life-changing moment. The first few weeks of pregnancy can bring big changes — and big feelings. Every pregnancy is different, but here’s what you can expect as your body adjusts and your baby starts to grow.

Your First Prenatal Visit

If you haven’t already, now’s a good time to schedule your first prenatal visit. The first trimester is a time when your provider can help assess any health risks you have and help you manage them, as well as walk with you through your decisions and preferences for your pregnancy. They will likely order bloodwork and an ultrasound. This is a good visit to bring your questions to.

Your Body

You might feel more tired than usual, and that’s completely normal. Hormones are shifting, and your body is hard at work supporting early pregnancy. Try to rest when you can — naps and quiet moments can help you recharge. You may also notice you need to pee more often and that your clothes start to feel snug. Switching to soft, stretchy styles can help you feel more comfortable.

Your Feelings

Pregnancy can bring a mix of emotions. You might feel joyful one moment and overwhelmed the next. All of that is normal. Talk with your partner or someone you trust — whether it’s a friend, family member or counselor — about how you’re feeling. Don’t hesitate to ask for support.

Your Baby

Your baby (a tiny embryo) grows quickly in these early weeks. You'll learn more about your baby's development and recommended prenatal care and testing from your provider.

Remember: You’re not alone. This journey is unique to you, and it’s okay to ask for support. Rest when you need to and embrace each moment as it comes. If you have questions or concerns, talk to your healthcare provider for guidance.
