The Sutter Health PGY1 Pharmacy Residency – East Bay is a multi-site program that offers the resident exposure to a variety of practice environments and experiences.
The program’s purpose is to provide the resident with the skillset necessary to pursue a clinical pharmacist position, academia, or additional training including a postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
During the 12 month program, the resident will gain experience across the continuum of care; this includes practicing in acute, transitional and ambulatory care settings.

- Small and large acute care hospital settings
- Sutter Health System Office
- Sutter Health Medical Foundations
- Sutter Select and Sutter Health Plus Health Plans
- Affiliated Schools of Pharmacy
Teaching Certificate
Sutter Health has partnered with the College of Pharmacy at Touro University California and California Northstate University to offer a teaching certificate program.
The PGY1 Residency Program at Sutter Health East Bay is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
