D. Eric Collins, M.D.

Dr. D. Eric Collins is a board‑certified neurologist with more than three decades of clinical experience treating multiple sclerosis in addition to advanced Parkinson's disease and deep brain stimulator programming. He currently practices in Berkeley, California, where he serves patients through his long‑standing appointments at Summit Medical Center in Oakland—where he has been an active staff neurologist since 1993 and previously served as Chief of the Neurology Division—and at Alta Bates Medical Center.
Dr. Collins completed his Neuromuscular Disease Fellowship at the University of Southern California’s Neuromuscular Center at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan, following a Neurology Residency at USC/Los Angeles County Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident. His medical training began at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, preceded by undergraduate study in chemistry and psychobiology at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
He is board‑certified in Neurology and has contributed to research in neuropathology, infectious disease, and neuromuscular disorders, with publications spanning American Journal of Pathology, MMWR, and Epilepsia. Dr. Collins is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, a member of multiple regional and national neurological societies, and has held leadership roles including Director of Continuing Medical Education and President of the San Francisco Neurologic Society.
In addition to his clinical and administrative leadership, Dr. Collins has been dedicated to medical education for over two decades, serving as a Clinical Instructor for the UC Berkeley–UCSF Joint Medical Program and Touro University School of Medicine, and currently as an Assistant Professor of Neurology.
