David Klonoff

Dr. David C. Klonoff is an internationally recognized endocrinologist and pioneer in diabetes technology. He serves as Medical Director of the Dorothy L. and James E. Frank Diabetes Research Institute at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center and is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF. Widely regarded as the founder of the diabetes technology field, he established the Diabetes Technology Meeting, the Hospital Diabetes Meeting, and the Diabetes Technology Society. Dr. Klonoff has authored more than 400 scientific publications and led over 130 clinical trials, including the first multicenter outpatient artificial pancreas study. His innovations include the Glycemia Risk Index and major cybersecurity standards for medical devices. His honors include the ADA Outstanding Physician Clinician Award, the FDA Director’s Special Citation, the IEEE Conformity Assessment Award, and recognition as a top 1% U.S. endocrinology researcher. A leader in global policy, digital health, and device safety, he continues to shape the future of diabetes care.
