Soft Tissue Injections

Soft tissue injections can help ease pain or inflammation around a damaged tendon, bursae, joint or other tissue. However, research shows it’s critical that your doctor have a thorough understanding of the medication being injection and of the anatomy of the damaged tissue. In the Sutter Health network, orthopedic specialists are expert in providing soft tissue injections that can help get you on the road to recovery.

Depending on your injury, your doctor may recommend an injection of a pain-reliever such as lidocaine, or a powerful anti-inflammatory such as cortisone. While cortisone injections don’t help the injury heal, they can reduce pain so you can start physical therapy that does stimulate faster healing.

Soft tissue injections are usually part of a larger treatment plan that may include oral pain medicine, rest, ice, heat, bracing and physical therapy. Orthopedic specialists in the Sutter Health network can work with you to find the best treatment for your injury and your lifestyle.
