Volunteers in the Emergency Department interact with staff, patients, families, and guests. They provide a variety of help, including transporting patients in wheelchairs and escorting guests within the Emergency Department. Under the direction of staff, volunteers keep the waiting area neat and clean. They keep the cough/cold/hygiene station stocked (tissues, gloves, hand sanitizer, and masks), make deliveries to the lab, and keep wheelchairs readily available to patients and guests. Volunteers should be comfortable interacting with patients, families, and guests of all ages and backgrounds, and be sensitive to language and cultural differences.
