Lab Greeter Volunteer at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center

Volunteers give patients numbered tickets in the order that patients arrive and invite them to sit comfortably in the lobby until their number is called. The lab can get very busy.

Volunteers should be warm and friendly, be able to stand for their shifts, and be familiar with department locations to provide directions when asked. This volunteer role provides the opportunity to use your people management skills. Occasional clerical duties such as assembling packets may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Friendly
• Outgoing
• Communication skills with a working knowledge of English
• Customer service
• Basic clerical skills including multi-line phone use, computer, copy machine,fax machine, etc.
• Remain focused on the patient experience
• Able to sit/stand/walk

Training

• Apply online
• Attend a Virtual Information Meeting (90-minutes)
• Complete appropriate health testing and drug test (in person with our Employee Health Department; no charge to applicant)
• Pass a background check (completed online through an outside agency; no charge to applicant)
• Interview Virtually with Volunteer Services staff (45-minutes)
• Attend a Virtual orientation (2 hours)
• Complete on-line training on your own computer on your own time (~7 hours)
• Complete specific service area training (time is variable depending on the assignment)

Burlingame: 3 hours, Monday-Saturday, 6:30 am -12:00 pm.

San Mateo: 3 hours, Monday-Saturday, 6:30 am -9:30 am.
