Role Description
Volunteers greet guests and patients upon arrival and make them feel welcome. They help gather patient information. They act as a liaison between staff members and waiting families regarding patients. Volunteers must have a calming demeanor and help dilute stressful situations. They must interact appropriately with anxious family members. They must have a calming sense to be successful. This service is appropriate for volunteers of all ages.
Requirements and Qualifications
Qualifications
- Courteous
- Focus on customer service
- Basic multi-phone line and clerical skills
- Basic working knowledge of English
- Good communication skills
- Good listening skills
- Remain focused on the patient experience
- Able to sit/stand/walk
Training
- Apply online
- Attend a Virtual Information Meeting (90-minutes)
- Complete appropriate health testing and drug test (in person with our Employee Health Department; no charge to applicant)
- Pass a background check (completed online through an outside agency; no charge to applicant)
- Interview Virtually with Volunteer Services staff (45-minutes)
- Attend a Virtual orientation (2 hours)
- Complete on-line training on your own computer on your own time (~7 hours)
- Complete specific service area training (time is variable depending on the assignment)
Volunteering Shifts
Monday - Friday, 6:00 am to 9:00 am, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
