Question

Do I have to give up eating things like pasta and bread?

Answer

No, but you need to be aware of what a serving would be for you. Most people with diabetes can eat 30–60 grams of carbohydrate at a main meal. For example, two slices of standard bread have about 30 grams, and a cup of cooked pasta has about 45 grams. We also recommend eating whole, intact grains (quinoa, steel cut oats, brown rice) and whole grain products versus refined or processed foods made with enriched wheat flour (white flour).
