Question:

My feet smell pretty stinky at the end of the day. What causes this, and is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Answer:

This is a very common foot problem, especially in the summertime. Foot odor is most commonly caused by bacteria or fungus and is often associated with sweaty feet. If you do suffer from athlete's foot or fungal toenails, it is important to see your doctor for treatment to get rid of the infection and its odor.

To control sweaty feet, be sure to remove your socks and shoes when you can to let your feet air dry. Choose shoes made out of breathable, natural materials like leather or canvas and socks that are moisture wicking. Be sure to change your socks and shoes frequently during the day to decrease odor. Soaking your feet can help too.

If your feet need a little something more to keep them fresh, consider an antiperspirant. Roll-ons or sprays work best.
