Tinnitus: Ringing in the Ears

Question
I've been taking antibiotics for an ear infection for about six days, but my ears won't stop ringing. Is there anything I can do to stop this?
Answer
It is important for you to finish all your antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor. If you finish the antibiotics and your ears are still clogged or ringing, request an appointment for a hearing evaluation and/or a visit to an ear, nose and throat doctor to check your ears as well.
A hearing test will help determine if there is still pressure or fluid behind the eardrum and will give the ENT doctor information about your hearing status. Sometimes pressure or fluid in the ear can cause tinnitus (ringing in the ear) and temporary hearing difficulties. Usually the tinnitus will go away once the ear is clear.
