Individual Supervision

Interns receive two hours per week of regularly scheduled supervision. Each of these two hours is with a different supervisor. Supervision is based on a developmental model as interns increase their competency across clinical and professional domains. The function of the supervision hour includes but is not limited to monitoring of the intern’s caseload, development of therapeutic skills, discussion of specific assessment cases, difficult clinical interactions, professional development, and evaluating the intern’s progress. At the beginning of the year the intern and supervisor develop a learning plan to determine the intern’s goals and areas of growth for the training year.

Group Supervision

Group supervision is an integral part of the training program. Interns spend two hours per week in group supervision that includes our post-doctoral fellows. During group supervision an emphasis is placed on collaborative learning. Trainees have the opportunity to discuss their client caseload and are able to collaborate on issues related to case conceptualization, countertransference, boundaries, ethical situations, and professional conduct. Having the opportunity to provide feedback and support within the cohort is an important part of the learning process. Within group supervision there is a rotating case presentation where each trainee will present a current case in depth and lead a discussion on any issues that have come up regarding the case. Group supervision is led by a Licensed Psychologist.
