Because of the long history of clinical innovation and research here at CPMC, scholarly activity remains a vital part of fellowship training. State-of-the-art programs in advanced heart failure, transplant cardiology, structural intervention and electrophysiology have brought multiple multicenter clinical trials to the institution over the recent years, including PIONEER, MOMENTUM 3, GALACTIC-HF, INTELLECT-2, GUIDE HF, SHORE, CardiAMP, COAPT, ENCIRCLE, PERSISTENT; these programs have also conducted institutional clinical trials such as EARLY TAVR, PARNER 3, REPRISE IV. Fellows also have access to national registry databases, Sutter-wide databases, and Bay Area databases through ongoing close collaborations with UCSF and Kaiser.
