About the Fellowship Program
The Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento Family Medicine FMOB Fellowship is a one-year program designed for graduates of family medicine residencies. The fellowship offers specialized training in operative obstetrics and high-risk maternity care at our high-volume hospital, while allowing fellows to continue providing longitudinal family medicine care to the community.
Training includes hands-on experience with cesarean sections, operative vaginal deliveries, postpartum management, and obstetrical ultrasound. Fellows will also develop expertise in high-risk maternity care across the continuum of pregnancy—antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum—through close collaboration with our maternal-fetal medicine team.
We are currently accepting applications for one fellow per year.
Mentorship and Support
The program offers the opportunity to work alongside both OBGYNs and surgically trained FMOB providers in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing a unique and comprehensive perspective on obstetrical care.
Additional Program Features
The fellowship is open to newly graduated family medicine physicians, though all applicants are welcome. Additional benefits include:
- Paid Time Off (PTO) and Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours
- Moonlighting opportunities for those interested
- Teaching opportunities with the Family Medicine Residency Program and medical student rotations
