Chris became interested in Chinese medicine as a child growing up in Hong Kong; his passion grew to include a fascination with health and nutrition during his adolescence playing rugby and squash in England. He went on to study biochemistry in college in the US, became an apprentice to acupuncturists in Beijing, and pursued a medical degree at the University of the East in Manila, Philippines.

Working within a diversity of health systems around the world fed Chris’s dedication to an integrative approach. A gentle and attentive practitioner, he believes his patients deserve care that reflects their needs and preferences, as well as the best, evidence-informed medicine available. He is eager to provide all patients with personalized care plans and compassionate support.

I love being in nature and hiking as much as possible. I also like exploring the Bay Area and enjoying its beauty.

Chris Goodman-Smith, L.Ac draws upon extensive training in Western and Eastern medicine in his practice as a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor with the Institute for Health & Healing. Using techniques such as acupuncture, cupping, massage, herbal medicine, and nutrition counseling, he treats patients with a wide range of medical conditions and concerns, including chronic illnesses, acute and chronic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, neurological disorders, and side effects of cancer treatment. Chris also works with patients seeking support related to mental and emotional health, digestive disorders, insomnia, and addiction.

Chris collaborates closely with other IHH integrative specialists, making referrals for in-depth nutritional consultation, chiropractic or osteopathic treatment, massage, or diagnostic lab testing based on each patient’s unique circumstances.
