Akanksha Sharma, M.D., FAAN

Dr. Sharma is a triple board-certified neurologist, neuro-oncologist, and palliative care specialist who is passionate about helping patients maximize both quality and quantity of life. She believes in person-centered care that focuses not only on the disease but also on the individual living with it. Working closely with patients and their loved ones, she develops personalized care plans tailored to each person's needs and goals. She specializes in the treatment of primary and secondary brain and spinal cord tumors, neurological complications of cancer, and the neurologic side effects of cancer therapies. Dr. Sharma believes that knowledge is empowering and is committed to helping patients understand their condition and treatment options so they can make informed decisions throughout their care journey.

Dr. Sharma is a member of the Society of Neuro-Oncology, where she serves on multiple committees, as well as the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. She also serves as a clinical advisor for the American Brain Tumor Association, is a host committee member for the local Brain Tumor 5K, and volunteers as a mentor and advisor for ElevateMed, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing diversity in medicine.

Outside of Medicine, Dr. Sharma enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and her dog, Kaju. Her interests include reading, cooking, traveling, and crafting. She is also passionate about supporting social causes, particularly those focused on increasing diversity and equity in medicine.
