Alexa C. Glencer, M.D.

As a general surgeon with fellowship training in breast surgical oncology, Dr. Glencer works with a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans for patients with breast cancer that incorporate the most relevant and recent data from clinical trials. She believes it is essential that these treatment plans also incorporate the preferences of her patients.

Breast cancer can be an overwhelming diagnosis, but her goal is to effectively explain the surgical options that exist and make personalized recommendations based on tumor biology and each patient's priorities. She always seeks to present surgical options with an understanding of how they may relate to radiation and medical oncology decisions.

She performs nipple-sparing mastectomies, skin-sparing mastectomies, total mastectomies with aesthetic flat closure, partial mastectomies (lumpectomies), sentinel lymph node biopsy, and targeted axillary dissections. She also performs excisional biopsies or provides medical management for benign breast disease.

In addition to her breast surgery practice, Dr. Glencer performs hernia repairs, cholecystectomies, and colorectal surgery. She frequently performs these operations using the da Vinci robotic platform. It is critical to her to perform each surgery with technical excellence and to care for her patients holistically.

Dr. Glencer enjoys trail running and hiking, skiing, exploring the incredibly diverse dining scene in the Bay Area, traveling to new places, and spending quality time with her family.
