About Me

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Welsh strives to provide high-quality, experienced, and compassionate care in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. She greatly enjoys working with her pediatric patients and their families, understanding that parents are especially invested in giving their children a strong foundation for a lifetime of healthy vision, well-aligned eye movements, and excellent depth perception. She is highly experienced in all aspects of pediatric ophthalmology, with particular expertise in amblyopia and strabismus treatment, including surgery.

Her adult strabismus patients often present with concerns such as double vision, eye strain, abnormal head positioning that can lead to neck problems, headaches, and difficulty maintaining focus and attention at work or home. Some also experience uncomfortable social interactions when others are unsure whether they are being looked at or spoken to. Many of these patients require strabismus surgery but have believed—often incorrectly—that only children can benefit from such procedures. She finds it extremely rewarding to help adult patients address strabismus, double vision, and other vision issues, and brings decades of experience in adult strabismus surgery to her practice.

Personal Interests

Dr. Ziffer is married, has busy twin boys born in 2006 and a very friendly yellow Labrador dog. She enjoys hiking, skiing, traveling, reading and classical music.
