Benton T. Ashlock, M.D., M.S., FCCP

Dr. Ashlock was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. Before attending medical school, he worked as a Santa Barbara City Beach lifeguard and taught mathematics at both Dos Pueblos High School and Santa Barbara Junior High School. He later completed medical school on Saba Island in the Dutch Antilles, followed by residency and fellowship training in San Diego. After serving in a critical care position at Sharp Grossmont Hospital, he returned to Santa Barbara to practice pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Before pursuing a career in medicine, Dr. Ashlock worked as a beach lifeguard and mathematics teacher in his hometown of Santa Barbara, experiences that reflect his longstanding commitment to education and community service.
