About Me

Philosophy of Care

In Dr. Mann's clinical practice, he takes a highly personalized and hands-on approach. Every patient is evaluated individually, with a thorough history taken to understand how their condition impacts their daily life and athletic pursuits. He personally performs a complete physical examination and determines the need for diagnostic imaging when necessary.

When developing treatment plans, he emphasizes nonsurgical options first—often including personalized home exercise programs, supervised physical therapy, and supportive devices such as braces. He ensures that each patient understands their expected recovery timeline and schedules follow-up evaluations accordingly.

If surgery is indicated, he engages in detailed discussions with the patient to explain the procedure, its potential benefits, recovery process, and long-term implications. He remains accessible through the Sutter portal for any follow-up questions or concerns that may arise after the initial visit, ensuring continuity of care and open communication.

Community Activities

Dr. Mann has worked at the UC Berkeley Health Center for the past 20 years, where he treats students and collegiate athletes for a wide range of orthopedic injuries. As part of his role as a team physician, he frequently attends athletic competitions to provide on-site medical support.

For the past five years, he has also served as an attending physician for a local orthopedic residency program, where he teaches residents about the diagnosis and management of knee, foot, and ankle conditions.

Personal Interests

Outside of Dr. Mann's clinical work, he is deeply committed to environmental advocacy, with a particular focus on the health impacts of climate change. He is an active member of several medical and non-medical environmental organizations that educate the public on the health risks associated with a warming climate and promote strategies to protect the environment.

He enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring the natural beauty of wilderness areas.
