Jonathan C. Hu, M.D.

I believe that great care starts with connection. Every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and understood. That’s why I take the time to listen—to their story, their goals, and their concerns. My philosophy is rooted in empathy, clinical excellence, and shared decision-making. Whether managing prostate cancer, navigating complex urinary issues, or addressing sensitive men’s health concerns, I strive to treat the whole person—not just the condition. My goal is to offer patients the most advanced, evidence-based care available while remaining approachable, honest, and committed to their long-term health.

I was born at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View and raised in Cupertino, where I graduated from Monta Vista High School. After studying at UC San Diego, I volunteered aboard the USNS Mercy in Cambodia and Vietnam, which inspired my commitment to medical care in underserved communities. Before medical school, I worked in biotech on genomic sequencing technologies at a startup later acquired by Roche. I went on to earn my medical degree at Oakland University William Beaumont and completed my surgical training in Urology at UC Davis Health.

During residency, both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer—an experience that brought me home often and deepened my commitment to empathetic, patient-centered care. Today, I lead Silicon Valley Urologist, where I specialize in prostate cancer, men’s health, and advanced kidney stone management.

In my free time, my wife and I enjoy surfing at Jack’s or the Hook and walking with our two dogs—a high-energy lab and a stubborn but lovable dachshund—around the Lighthouse and Privates Beach. We love exploring the coast, biking, and discovering new places to eat.
