Dr. Mitchell is the founder of the Santa Barbara Women's Health Coalition (2022-Present). She served as Medical Director for Welcome Every Baby - Family Connects from 2020 to 2023. Katrina B. Mitchell, MD, IBCLC, PMH-C, is an internationally known breast surgeon, lactation consultant, and perinatal mental health provider. She is trained in oncoplastic breast surgery and hidden scar techniques and has a special clinical and research interest in young women's breast cancer and breast-conserving approaches to surgery. She has authored more than 50 academic manuscripts and multiple book chapters on lactation and the intersection of breast cancer and breastfeeding. She lectures throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia. She is the creator of the Physician Guide to Breastfeeding and the author of Go with the Flow: The Definitive, No-Nonsense Physician Guide to Breastfeeding.

Dr. Mitchell enjoys camping at the beach with her son and rescue pups, reading, and writing.
