About Me

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Lawrence Huang chose to become an Osteopathic physician (D.O.) because he believes that truly caring for a patient requires a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, illness, and the patient’s overall well-being. He emphasizes a collaborative approach, working alongside his patients to develop individualized treatment plans that address the mind, body, and spirit.

Having trained in both Osteopathic and Allopathic (M.D.) environments, Dr. Huang integrates the strengths of both disciplines to provide comprehensive care. He utilizes his manual therapy skills not only to diagnose pathologies but also to deliver effective treatments.

During medical school, Dr. Huang was selected as one of six teaching fellows, reflecting his passion for education and his commitment to explaining complex medical concepts to patients and their families. His osteopathic training, with its strong emphasis on anatomy and compassionate care, naturally guided him toward a career in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

As a physiatrist, Dr. Huang specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, focusing on noninvasive treatment options. After completing his residency at Stanford—where he served as Chief Resident in his final year—he pursued further specialization through an anesthesiology pain medicine fellowship at the University of Iowa. This advanced training expanded his expertise and allowed him to incorporate additional treatment modalities into his practice.

Dr. Huang recognizes that every treatment option carries potential risks or adverse effects. He considers it his responsibility to help patients navigate these challenges throughout their rehabilitation journey. With a comprehensive toolkit that includes manual therapies and fluoroscopic-guided interventional procedures, he is well-equipped to support patients through a complete and personalized rehabilitation program.

His ultimate goal as a physician is to help patients achieve maximal improvement in their functional, psychological, and spiritual health—enabling them to continue doing the activities they love.

Community Activities

Dr. Huang and his family are avid supporters of several cultural and educational institutions, including the California Science Center, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the de Young Museum. He is also a strong enthusiast of the Santa Clara Valley Koi and Garden tours, reflecting his appreciation for nature, art, and community engagement.

Personal Interests

Dr. Huang enjoys gardening, snorkeling, horseback riding, bicycling and traveling with his wife and daughter to various countries to try different foods. He also enjoys keeping koi fish as pets.
