Approach to care

Dr. Fereidan cares for people with a wide range of neurological conditions, with a particular focus on multiple sclerosis (MS) and related immune conditions of the nervous system. She wants patients to feel heard, understand their options, and have a meaningful voice in decisions about their care. She strives to understand how their condition affects everyday life and what they most hope to protect or regain. Together, she and her patients build a partnership that supports health, independence, and quality of life.

Her medical education in Iran was shaped by the Persian tradition of medicine and by mentors who taught her to remain humble, curious, and connected to the people in her care. Throughout her training, attending physicians repeated a lesson that became a daily mantra: “Every patient is a living textbook. Never see your patients merely as patients. Respect them as your greatest teachers.” That lesson continues to guide her belief that good care requires both scientific knowledge and a willingness to keep learning from the people in her care.

Her journey in medicine has crossed continents, from Iran through Japan and Germany to fellowship and faculty work at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. There, she completed a National Multiple Sclerosis Society-funded postdoctoral fellowship and later served as an Assistant Professor of Neurology. For more than a decade, her work has focused on MS and related immune conditions. Alongside colleagues and mentors, she has contributed to more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications, with one purpose: to help translate scientific discovery into better care. Each chapter of her journey has deepened her knowledge while reinforcing what matters most: the person behind the diagnosis.

Outside of medicine

Outside medicine, Dr. Fereidan finds strength in weightlifting, stillness in nature, and joy behind the DJ decks, weaving together music from around the world. She believes there is something magical about watching people dance to songs in languages they don’t understand. Joy needs no translation. These moments remind her to stay present, live fully, and take nothing for granted.
