Dr. Mohammad Hararah believes in caring for each patient as he would his own family—with empathy, respect, and thoughtful communication. He prioritizes treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis, and aims to empower his patients with the knowledge and support they need to make informed, shared decisions. In caring for patients with head and neck cancer, Dr. Hararah takes an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach, tailoring treatment to each individual’s medical and personal needs.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, Dr. Hararah enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children. A Bay Area native, he is an avid fan of local sports teams and loves exploring new coffee shops and restaurants. He finds balance in hiking, traveling, and discovering new places with his family.

Dr. Hararah is a fellowship-trained head and neck surgical oncologist and reconstructive surgeon. He treats both adult and pediatric conditions of the ear, nose, and throat, with advanced expertise in cancers of the head and neck, sleep apnea, and facial reconstruction.


He offers cutting-edge surgical care, including:
-Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for minimally invasive cancer removal.
-Microvascular free flap reconstruction for complex cancer or trauma-related defects.
-Minimally invasive endoscopic skull base surgery.
-Advanced thyroid and parathyroid cancer surgery.
-Sleep apnea surgery, including Inspire hypoglossal nerve stimulator implantation and multilevel airway surgery.


Dr. Hararah performed the first successful microvascular free tissue transfer at Sutter Medical Center Sacramento and is a leader in expanding access to complex head and neck surgical care within the region.


As a surgeon with the Focused Practice Designation in Adult Complex Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery, he has advanced expertise in treating conditions such as thyroid and parathyroid tumors, aggressive cancers, and inherited endocrine syndromes.


A San Francisco native, Dr. Hararah earned his undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley, majoring in both Molecular & Cell Biology and Near Eastern Studies. He received his Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins and his Medical Degree from the University of Wisconsin, followed by residency at the University of Colorado. He then completed two prestigious fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center—one in head and neck oncologic surgery, and the other in reconstructive microsurgery.


Dr. Hararah has published in top peer-reviewed journals, presented nationally, and been recognized for his compassionate and humanistic approach to patient care. He was elected to the Gold Humanism Honor Society, reflecting his dedication to empathy and professionalism in medicine.
